GLOBAL CREATIVE MAKE-UP AND COLOUR DIRECTOR
As CHANEL’s global creative make-up and colour director, Lucia Pica is responsible for the development of CHANEL’s makeup line—creating new collections, product, and campaigns—along with guiding beauty-focused messaging across fashion, runway, and editorial.
Often praised for her innovative use of colour palettes, Pica’s thoroughly modern take on beauty mixes the experimental with natural, fresh-faced looks and impossibly dewy skin.
Since 2016, Pica has unveiled an annual seasonal collection inspired by her travels: her native Naples, the mythic American west coast, and faraway Asia, each documented by a close photographer-collaborator such as Zoe Ghertner, Harley Weir and Angelo Pennetta.
Seasonal Collections by Lucia Pica
2016 to 2019
For each seasonal collection, Lucia Pica draws inspiration from a location in the world: the mood, textures, and unique sensory experience of a specific place in time, all contribute to the development of a color palette and story for each collection’s development and unveiling.
From Naples to Los Angeles, and most recently Asia, Pica has worked with her closest creative collaborators including Harley Weir and Angelo Pennetta to document the inspiration process through their unique lens.
Vision d'Asie: l'art du détail
On her trip to Asia, Lucia Pica drew inspiration from the radiant and subtle contrasts of the continent. Exploring the metropolises, city streets and urban markets with Pica, Harley Weir documented the expedition as part of the creative process. Captivated by the beauty of everyday details, Pica created an intense range of makeup with green, blue, gold, ivory and fuchsia shades—colors all seen in Weir’s imagery.
NEAOPLIS: NEW CITY
For the SS18 Napoli Collection, Lucia Pica returned to her hometown, taking inspiration from different parts of the city’s environment: the colors of buildings, the surrounding sea in the Bay of Naples and even the pastel nets used by the local fishermen. Photographed by Angelo Pennetta, the photographic series accompanying the makeup collection captures the spirit of the city.
