About the Artist

Ezra Petronio is among the most influential image makers of his generation, whose work with leading fashion, beauty and brands has resonated for more than 25 years.

Over the past few decades, Petronio’s career has been built upon a series of profound and creative collaborations with many of the industry’s greatest minds, from Karl Lagerfeld, Phoebe Philo to Jil Sander. Among his first major projects was the design of Comme des Garçons fragrances with Rei Kawakubo. He worked alongside Miuccia Prada for 10 years art directing Miu Miu and working on a vast range of projects for Prada, including many of its fragrances.

Throughout his career, he has navigated the evolution of the luxury business and has engaged intensively in the new changes and challenges that the industry is facing today. Petronio believes that great and compelling creative direction emerges from the capacity to create excellence across all channels—whether worldwide print and film campaigns, a digital roll-out or a gif on an e-commerce platform.

Based in Paris, Petronio is the founder and creative director of Petronio Associates, a multi- disciplinary creative and strategic agency established in 1993. His other agency, Content Matters, specializes in complementary services such as content, digital marketing and brand storytelling. Since 1994, he has been the editor-in-chief and creative director of Self Service magazine, a biannual international and independent publication that takes an in-depth view of fashion and art. In 2017, he co-founded and conceived the creative identity for La Bouche Rouge, a forward-thinking beauty brand. Petronio is also an accomplished photographer; in addition to taking upwards of 4,000 portraits, he shoots and directs both editorial and commercial projects.

With both Petronio Associates and Content Matters, Petronio is capable of developing a real 360-degree approach to communication, from the overall creative direction and strategy, to the creation and development of all digital and social media content. His 360-degree expertise spans overall branding and visual identity, campaign art direction, product design, retail experience, communication, typography and more. Over three decades, his clients have included A.P.C., Chanel, Chloé, Comme des Garçons, Glossier, H&M, Hermès, Lanvin, Le Bon Marché, Guerlain, Mango, Miu Miu, Prada, Puig, Revlon, Saint Laurent, Victoria Beckham and Zara among others.
