Diane Kendal

Makeup Artist

The name of British industry icon Diane Kendal is synonymous with a refined, bold and diverse vision of what beauty can be. A makeup artist who is renowned for her textural approach and instinctive use of colour, her aesthetic interests were forged as one of the nascent tastemakers of 1990s London, where she honed her craft alongside her community of collaborators. A career that has involved not only the creation of countless influential looks on runway shows and campaigns, but additionally the creative direction and development of bestselling makeup lines, working closely with brands such as Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein, MAC and ZARA on their beauty collections. With these roles, she has continued to pursue the tenets that have always guided her approach: a passion for beauty that, through greater sustainability and inclusivity, can allow everyone access to the expressive power of makeup.

Currently residing in New York City, Kendal’s work has appeared in French, British, American, Italian, and Japanese Vogue; i-D, Interview, Harper’s Bazaar, Self Service, W, and LOVE. Her collaborators span different generations of image-making and include long standing relationships with hairstylist Guido Palau and photographer David Sims, as well as her work with Fabien Baron, Joe McKenna, Alasdair McLellan, Emmanuelle Alt, Craig McDean, Katie Grand, Camilla Nickerson, Mario Sorrenti, Karl Templer, Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, Marie Chaix, Tyler Mitchell, Marie-Amelie Sauvé, Patti Wilson, and Steven Klein.
